Terms of Service

These terms form a contract between you and the company identified on our legal information page, trading as Stretchprint. They apply every time you use this website or the workbench, whether or not you hold a paid subscription.

You must be 18 or over to hold an account. If you are using Stretchprint in the course of a business, you are entering this contract on behalf of that business and confirm you are authorised to do so; the consumer-specific rights in these terms then do not apply to you, although we do not exclude anything we are not permitted to exclude.

Stretchprint takes a flat image of a sock or a piece of artwork and applies a non-uniform mesh deformation to it, computed in your browser from published stretch factors for each zone of a knitted sock. It returns a stretch map, a table of zone factors and a zone-fit card.

The factors are published as intervals. The same sock stretches differently across sizes and foot shapes, and yarn elasticity and knit density change the result again — none of which we can read from a flat image. Every result therefore ships with a list of what the model cannot know, and the images carry the label Modelled stretch — not a photo burned into the image itself.

Stretchprint does not, on any plan:

• sell, manufacture or print socks or any other garment;
• design artwork, generate patterns, or edit yours;
• evaluate a design, its subject or its style, or offer any opinion on whether something looks good — placement guidance is geometric only;
• make any determination about copyright, trademark or any other intellectual property question;
• accept photographs of anyone wearing socks, or generate any image of a person, a leg or a foot. The worn state is always shown as a sock on a form;
• state that a sock will look exactly a particular way when worn.

Results are a modelling aid. They are not a manufacturing specification and are not a substitute for knitting a physical sample. You must not use Stretchprint as the sole basis for any decision in a medical, legal, financial, safety, employment, credit, housing or judicial context — see our acceptable use policy.

Copyright and every other right in the files you upload remain entirely yours. We claim no ownership, no licence to exploit them and no right to reuse them.

We use your files solely to produce the results you asked for. We do not use them to train any model, and we do not show them as examples, in a gallery, in marketing or anywhere else unless you give us separate, explicit, file-by-file consent. Nothing is opted in by default and there is no setting hidden somewhere that says otherwise.

Uploads are encrypted at rest, are readable only by your own account, and can be deleted from the workbench at any time. Deletion removes the file from live storage immediately and from backups within 30 days.

You confirm you have the right to upload what you upload. That is a statement about your own authority, not an invitation for us to assess anyone’s rights — we do not.

Paid plans are monthly or annual subscriptions that renew automatically until you cancel. Prices are shown in USD and include VAT at 20%. Before you pay, a summary screen sets out the plan, the price, the billing period, the renewal date, the fact that it renews automatically and how to cancel.

We are implementing the subscription requirements of the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 voluntarily and ahead of the date on which they take effect. In practice that means: pre-contract information before you commit; a 14-day cooling-off period at the start; a fresh 14-day cooling-off period after each renewal of an annual plan; a reminder before renewal sent as its own email containing nothing but the renewal details and a cancel link, never mixed into marketing; and an exit that takes no more effort than joining did.

We may change prices. If we do, we will tell you at least 30 days before the change takes effect on your subscription, and you may cancel before it does.

Each plan includes a monthly allowance of credits. A credit is an allowance to use the service and nothing else. Credits are not money, not stored value, not redeemable for cash and not transferable. They carry no cash value at any time, including on termination.

Each month’s allowance covers that month and does not carry forward. There are no credit packs, no top-ups and no way to buy extra credits — if you run out regularly, the remedy is a higher plan.

Current consumption: one credit for a chat question, two for reading a pattern from a flat shot, five for a stretch map with its zone-fit card. We will give 30 days’ notice before increasing any of these.

You have a 14-day right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. For a digital service, that right ends once supply has begun, but only if you expressly asked us to begin within the 14 days and acknowledged that you would lose the right by doing so.

We ask for both of those as two separate boxes at checkout, neither pre-ticked, and we repeat both statements to you in the order confirmation email as the durable-medium confirmation required by regulation 16. If you do not tick them, we wait out the 14 days before starting.

We will supply the service with reasonable care and skill, and it will match the description on this site. If it does not, you are entitled to a repair or replacement and, where that is not possible or not done within a reasonable time, to a price reduction — the remedies set out in the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

We are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking this contract or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable when the contract was made, nor for business losses where you use the service for business purposes.

We do not exclude or limit our liability in any way where it would be unlawful to do so. That includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and for any breach of your statutory rights in relation to digital content and services.

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.

We aim to keep the service available continuously but do not promise uninterrupted access; we may suspend it for maintenance, and we will give notice where we reasonably can.

We may change the service to reflect changes in law or to improve it. If a change materially reduces what you are paying for, we will tell you and you may cancel and receive a refund of the unused part of what you paid.

You can close your account at any time from billing. We may suspend or end your account if you breach these terms or the acceptable use policy, and we will tell you why and give you an opportunity to put it right unless the breach is serious.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the protection of any mandatory rules of your own country’s law and may bring proceedings there.
