What this service produces is a deformation model built from knitting stretch factors, not a photograph of a worn sock. Every image carries the label Modelled stretch — not a photo burned into the image layer, where it cannot be removed by cropping the page around it.

The geometry is computed in your browser. No generative model is asked to deform anything, because a generative model would produce a plausible-looking sock, and a plausible-looking sock is exactly the thing this service exists to replace.

We do not assert that a sock will look this way when worn. We assert how the geometry behaves under the published factors, which is a different and much smaller claim.

The stretch factor for each zone is given as an interval, never as a single number, because the same sock stretches differently across sizes and foot shapes. Yarn elasticity and knit density change the result again — the same pattern behaves differently on a fine dress sock and on a cushioned sport sock — and none of that is knowable from a flat image.

• Cuff — across 1.30–1.50×, along 0.78–0.88×, planar.
• Heel — across 1.50–1.70×, along 1.05–1.20×, planar.
• Instep — across 1.25–1.40×, along 0.95–1.05×, planar.
• Arch — across 1.05–1.15×, along 0.98–1.04×, planar.
• Toe — across 1.15–1.35×, along 0.62–0.80×, treated as a hemisphere rather than a flat stretch.

The deformation applied to your image is non-uniform: the heel is not given the same treatment as the arch, and the toe is not given a stretch at all. A single scale applied to the whole image would make every pattern look acceptable, which is precisely the illusion a flat product photo already creates.

This list ships with every result on every plan. On the free plan the watermark is positioned so it can never cover it.

• Your actual size and the shape of your own foot — the single largest variable, and one we have no way of reading from a flat photograph.
• Yarn elasticity. The same pattern on a high-elastane sport sock and on a cotton dress sock does not deform by the same amount.
• Knit density and gauge. A thick cushioned knit resists stretch that a fine-gauge knit gives in to.
• How the sock was constructed — a hand-linked toe and a seamless one wrap the same hemisphere differently.
• Wear and laundering. Recovery drops over the life of the sock, and the factors drift with it.

The service accepts no photograph of anyone wearing socks and rejects such uploads at the upload step. It generates no image of a person, a leg or a foot, at any point, on any plan.

The worn state is always shown as a sock on a form. That is a product boundary, not a technical limitation, and it will not be relaxed.

The service has nothing to do with the pattern itself. It never evaluates a design, its subject or its style. It never creates artwork and never edits yours. It offers no aesthetic suggestion of any kind.

Placement guidance is purely geometric — “this zone stretches least” — and stops there. What you do with that is your decision and none of our business.

No copyright or trademark determination is made about your artwork or anyone else’s. Nothing on this site should be read as an opinion on whether something may be used, sold or registered.

Copyright in the artwork you upload belongs entirely to you. We claim no rights in it.

We never use it to train a model and never show it as an example — not in a gallery, not in marketing, not in a case study — unless you give separate, explicit consent for that specific file. Nothing is opted in by default. Our AI provider does not retain or train on the content either; see the privacy notice.

Files are encrypted at rest and deletable at any time, with removal from backups within 30 days.
