Accessibility Statement

We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 level AA throughout. The contrast ratios of the palette were measured rather than assumed, and the measured figures are recorded in a comment at the top of the stylesheet.

Body text on the page background measures 17.30:1 and secondary text 7.75:1, both above the 4.5:1 threshold. The slate-blue accent used for the arch zone measures 3.29:1 against the background and is therefore used only for graphics and borders; where an arch label needs to be read as text, a lighter variant at 7.28:1 is used instead.

The flat-versus-worn divider is a real slider control. It takes keyboard focus, the left and right arrow keys move it in two per cent steps, holding shift moves it in ten, and Home and End pin it to either side. It announces its position as a percentage of each panel.

Beneath it, a table gives every zone by name, its stretch interval and what happens to a pattern in it. The comparison is therefore fully available without seeing the picture at all.

No information is carried by colour alone. Each stretch zone has a distinct hatch pattern, a written name and a printed numeric factor as well as a hue.

Animation is limited to short transitions, and everything animated stops for anyone whose system requests reduced motion.

The page reflows to 320 pixels without a horizontal scroll and supports zoom to 500 per cent. On a touch device the canvas can be pinch-zoomed, and page zoom is never suppressed.

The stretch map itself is a raster image. We describe it in text alongside, but a rendered pattern cannot be conveyed exactly in a sentence, and we do not pretend otherwise.

Some reference photographs on the gallery wall are decorative variations of the same idea; their alt text describes the pattern and the deformation rather than every visual detail.
